The oddly named Nike Shacket is a compromise between the comfort of a shirt and the convenience of a techwear jacket. This so called shacket is made from 100% nylon but it isn’t shiny like cheap rain jackets you might be thinking of. It feels very premium and the waterproof zips give it a very nice look and feel. Unfortunately though it is a little bit ‘swishy’ the sound of the jacket was not as quiet as I would have liked but it is comfortable.
This shacket is extremely lightweight and packs down to the size of a rolled up t-shirt. It has a very durable water resistant finish and water just glides off this thing. I don’t know how well it would hold up in a rain storm but I think it’d stay dry enough for you to find shelter. This shacket also cuts the wind. I was walking around on a windy day and had to unzip the front to cool off a bit because it does a great job of cutting the elements out. It didn’t feel clammy although I didn’t test it as thoroughly as I would have liked.
Sizing on this shacket seems to be on the roomier side. The fit is a little boxy and the jacket I got was a size small when ideally an XS would probably have fit perfectly. This shacket does feature articulated shoulder blades to allow for more freedom of movement and it doesn’t feel restrictive when you wear it. It has a slightly droptail back hem to prevent dirt from kicking up on your back if you use it while cycling or running.
Overall I would recommend this jacket for a premium replacement to a running/cycling jacket or for a lightweight wind/water resistant shell layer for backpacking. Just make sure you get the right size, ideally sizing down one for a more form fitting fit or get your normal size if you intend to layer it.
